CAPA GRAND PRIZE HUNGARY 2026 – CALL FOR ENTRIES

THE ROBERT CAPA CONTEMPORARY PHOTOGRAPHY CENTER ANNOUNCES THE ROBERT CAPA PHOTOGRAPHY GRAND PRIZE HUNGARY 2026 APPLICATION, WHICH AIMS TO RECOGNIZE THE OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCE OF MIDDLE-GENERATION ARTISTS IN THE FIELD OF HUNGARIAN PHOTOGRAPHY.

The Capa Grand Prize is awarded to an artist who works in any field of photography, has a proven professional background, and has previously demonstrated outstanding talent. By awarding the prize, the Capa Center wishes to emphasize its commitment to supporting creative works that enrich society, facilitating the further development and future experimentation of artists.

The Capa Grand Prize Hungary 2026 is awarded through an application process, there is no possibility of nomination. Individual artists or creative groups of up to five people can apply. The prize is open to Hungarian citizens and foreign citizens living in Hungary over 30 years of age.

We are looking for documentary-inspired submissions and synopses, which reflect a socially committed creative approach.

One cannot apply with work that was produced with financial support from the Capa Center. An artist who receives a scholarship funded by the Capa Center in 2026 is not eligible for the award.

The jury selects five candidates in the first phase of the competition, and then selects the grand prize winner in the second phase amond the shortliested artists. The candidates present their works to the jury in a public English-language presentation at the Capa Center before the award ceremony.

The Grand Prize winner will present their winning work at an exhibition abroad the year after winning the prize. In 2027, this exhibition will be held at the Krinzinger Schottenfeld Gallery in Vienna, which will also include a one-month residency in Vienna, thanks to the generous donation of the Gallery.
