JURY
The awarding of the fellowships and the prize is decided by an independent jury of five renowned Hungarian and international professionals. The work of the jury is supported by a secretary, who has no right to vote. The award judging process is completed through a series of online and in-person private sessions conducted in English.

Attila Horányi
President of the jury, art historian, aesthete, associate professor at the Institute for Theoretical Studies, Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design
Attila Horányi is the director of the BA program in Art and Design Theory at Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design. He has an MA in Art History and a PhD in Aesthetics, both from Eötvös Loránd University, Budapest. Dr. Horányi was a Fulbright scholar at the Cultural Anthropology Department at Northwestern University. He was a fellow and later board member of the Civic Education Project, and received the Kállai Grant for three years. He is the recipient of the prestigious Németh Lajos Prize (given to art historians and art critics) and for one of his book reviews he received the Opus Mirabile Prize awarded by the Art Historian Committee of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. He has been the member of numerous boards, the most notable of which was the Photography Board of the National Cultural Fund, which he also led for two years. Dr. Horányi frequently organizes conferences in art history, theory of photography and visual culture. His areas of research include modernist art and art theory, design theory, and the philosophy and history of art history. He is also completing a monograph on the autonomy of art, and a collection of published and unpublished essays.
Krzysztof Candrowicz is founder and director of the International Festival of Photography in Łódź Poland, of the Foundation of Visual Education and the Łódź Art Center. In 2004, he established a network of 30 European festivals of photography, called Photo Festival Union. Candrowicz is also working as a guest curator and visiting lecturer in numerous organizations, museums, schools and festivals in Europe and worldwide. He was a member of the Jury of various art projects; e.g. Rencontres d’Arles Discovery Award (Arles, France), The Hasselblad Foundation Award, Deutsche Börse European Photography Prize (London, UK), Historical Book Award and the Author Book Award (Arles, France), Syngenta Photography Award (Basel, Switzerland), Prix Pictet – The global award in photography and sustainability (London, UK). In January 2014, he became artistic director of the Triennial of Photography Hamburg.

Kata Oltai
Art historian, curator
After working several years for an art magazine, a commercial gallery, then an international non-profit project office (ACAX–WAX), she was working as a curator for nearly five years at Ludwig Múzeum – Museum of Contemporary until 2012. She contributed to Pál Gerber’s life-work exhibition and Ackermann’s first exhibition in Hungary, but she also coordinated László Moholy-Nagy’s retrospective exhibition and Martin Munkácsi’s exhibition a year earlier. Besides her career at various institutions, she was working for five years as a program coordinator for the Budapest ArtFair. She has been working for several years on bringing photographers, curators and institutions closer to each other as the initiator of the Átlátás (Over-View) series, a special incubator program jointly established with the Studio of Young Photographers Hungary (FFS). She has published two books as a freelancer, a large monography covering the photography of Zsuzsi Ujj in 2013 and she edited a science nonfiction book entitled Kontextus (Context) on the various approaches of contemporary art in 2012. She prepared several exhibitions; she is primarily interested in male and female role clichés, masculinity research, issues of post-identity and subculture research. She was studying the history, the reception, the exhibition policy and the gender relations of the Velem Textile Art Workshop wile a Ernő Kállai Fellow until 2015. At the moment she is working on Miklós Déri’s photobook, a history of Hungarian punk from a special aspect and the preparation of a feminist project gallery.
Marina Paulenka is a Croatian photographer, a founder and director of the International Photography Festival Organ Vida in Zagreb, Croatia and the Organ Vida Photography Association. She has a masters degree in Photography at the Academy of Dramatic Art in Zagreb. She is a member of the Croatian Freelance Artists’ Association and she has exhibited and awarded for her work in Croatia and internationally. Paulenka also works as a portfolio reviewer at several organizations and festivals in Europe, e.g. Rencontres d’Arles, Voies Off, Boutographies, FotoDoks, Photonic Moments. In her dual role as a photographer and festival organizer, Marina has had the opportunity and pleasure of curating photo exhibitions, meeting artists and taking part in many discourses on current trends in contemporary photography in numerous countries.

Clément Saccomani
Managing director of NOOR photo agency
Clément Saccomani joined NOOR photo agency and foundation (headquartered in Amsterdam) as managing director with 15 years of international experience in the photography industry. He began working in the field as a press photographer for several years covering news, conflict and violence against women, represented by Gamma Agency. In 2009, Saccoman joined the staff of Magnum Photos. In 2011, he was promoted to Editorial Director, developing strong, innovative strategies for visual storytelling projects for corporate clients, NGOs and international organizations.
István Virágvölgyi studied freehand drawing, desktop publishing and photography and earned a master’s degree from library and information studies at Eötvös Loránd University. He worked at Origo news portal first as photo editor and then as head of photography between 2007 and 2011 after which he joined MTI Hungarian News Agency and was the head of the photo desk until 2014. He served as deputy director for professional affairs at the Robert Capa Contemporary Photography Center until the end of 2015. He is the secretary of the Robert Capa Photography Grand Prize Hungary.
