Attila Hor\u00e1nyi is the director of the BA program in Art and Design Theory at Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design. He has an MA in Art History and a PhD in Aesthetics, both from E\u00f6tv\u00f6s Lor\u00e1nd University, Budapest. Dr. Hor\u00e1nyi was a Fulbright scholar at the Cultural Anthropology Department at Northwestern University. He was a fellow and later board member of the Civic Education Project, and received the K\u00e1llai Grant for three years. He is the recipient of the prestigious N\u00e9meth Lajos Prize (given to art historians and art critics) and for one of his book reviews he received the Opus Mirabile Prize awarded by the Art Historian Committee of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. He has been the member of numerous boards, the most notable of which was the Photography Board of the National Cultural Fund, which he also led for two years. Dr. Hor\u00e1nyi frequently organizes conferences in art history, theory of photography and visual culture. His areas of research include modernist art and art theory, design theory, and the philosophy and history of art history. Curator of many international exhibitions and editor of books like 22 Photographers (Edition Stemmle, 1997), Austrian Documentary Photography and Ferdinand Schmutzer \u2013 A Photographic Discovery (Photographers International Taiwan 1999 and 2004), east (moser Verlag 2008), west (Kehrer Verlag 2009), Ferdinand Schmutzer – Photographic Works 1894-1928 (moser Verlag 2008). Her own artistic works includes publications like \u201cPhilodendron” (exhibition catalogue with paintings, drawings and bw photographs, 2006), and books like All about Golf, The Dog Shakeera (AnzenbergerGallery 2010) and My Golf Diary (AnzenbergerGallery 2011). Born in Kolozsv\u00e1r (Cluj [today Cluj-Napoca], Romania) on August 4, 1937. He has been living in Budapest since 1949.
He has worked as photojournalist for the Hungarian press as well as for international magazines, including National Geographic, GEO Magazine, Fortune, Time, and Forbes.
He has published twenty one books.
As a documentary photographer, he has spent more than forty years recording the disappearing peasant way of life and culture. From the end of the 1970s, he followed the life of a commuter laborer with his camera for eight years. The books he published in these decades include Heaven\u2019s Bridegroom (1975), Passing Times (1979), The Guest Worker (1988), Inventory – Images of Transylvania (1998), and Attachment (2008).
His pictures can be found in the following collections: Hungarian Museum of Photography (Kecskem\u00e9t, Hungary), Mus\u00e9e Nicephore Ni\u00e9pce (France), National Museum of Photography, Film and Television (England).
He was a member of the International Advisory Boards of the World Press Photo (Amsterdam) and the W. Eugene Smith Foundation (USA). He has been a founding member of Sony World Photographic Academy (UK) since 2007.
Exhibitions of his photographs have been shown at various galleries and museums in sixteen countries.
He was awarded the Bal\u00e1zs B\u00e9la Prize in 1975, the Kossuth Prize in 1999, the Prima Primissima Prima Prize and the Pulitzer Memorial Prize in 2004. Dimitri Beck, French journalist, is the editor-in-chief of the Paris-based photography magazine, Polka. Dimitri has been part of the executive management of Polka since 2008, contributing to the development of the magazine, gallery and website, including the magazine\u2019s new feature-rich iPad version. Dimitri lectures on photojournalism at conferences and educational institutes. Prior to working at Polka, from 2004 till end of 2006, he was the Director of the Aina Photo Agency based in the Afghan capital Kabul and the editor-in-chief for the Anglo-French feature magazine Les Nouvelles de Kaboul – New Afghanistan. Before that he was the editor-in-chief of Reza’s photo agency Webistan.     Clare Grafik is Chief Curator at The Photographers\u2019 Gallery in London. She earned a BA Joint Honors in Philosophy\/Art History at Leeds University, and MA in Image and Communications (Photography) at Goldsmiths College. She has worked in a number of public institutions in London including the Institute of Contemporary Arts, Whitechapel Art Gallery, Hayward Gallery and National Portrait Gallery. She has been at The Photographers\u2019 Gallery since 2003 working in public programming and curating exhibitions. She has worked on exhibitions and projects with artists and photographers including Lise Sarfati, Isa Genzken, Larry Sultan, Mike Mandel, Taryn Simon, Katy Grannan, Antoine D\u2019Agata, Cuny Janssen, Zineb Sedira and Keith Arnatt. Group exhibitions include The Photographic Object (2009) and Photography & Collage (2012).
