The awarding of the fellowships and the prize is decided by an independent jury of five renowned Hungarian and international professionals. The work of the jury is supported by a secretary who has no right to vote. The award judging process is completed through a series of private sessions conducted in English via online or in person. The submissions are not anonymized throughout the judging procedure. For each entry, the materials are assessed by two juries: when submitting the entry, the first jury chooses the three fellows, and in the next year, another jury selects the grand prize winner out of the three fellows. Thus, each jury selects three fellows from the entries submitted in the given year, as well as a grand prize winner out of the three fellows of the previous year.<\/p>\n

Laia Abril (Spain, 1986) is a research-based artist working with photography, text and sound. After graduating in journalism and working as an editor at Colors Magazine, she focused on developing long-term projects on uneasy and hidden realities about women rights, grief and bio-politics. She is the author of several books: The Epilogue (2014, Dewi Lewis), Lobismuller (2016, RM) and On Abortion (2018 Dewi Lewis) \u2013 which was nominated for the Deutsche B\u00f6rse Prize and the winner of the Aperture\u2013Paris Photo Best Book Award. Her installations have been exhibited in more than 15 countries and are part of collections such as the Centre Pompidou, FRAC, Mus\u00e9e de l\u2019Elys\u00e9e, Fotomuseum Winterthur, MoCP or MNAC. Her career has been recognized with the Prix de la Photo in Arles, The Hood Medal in London and the FOAM Paul Huf Award in Amsterdam, among others. Abril\u2019s next book On Rape will be published by Dewi Lewis in 2022. Maja Dyrehauge Gregersen (Denmark, 1978) has been managing director of Copenhagen Photo Festival since 2016 with a distinct emphasis on experimentation and sustainability, as well as a strong international focus and long term collaborations across Europe. She has worked with a large number of art and photography institutions, festivals and photographers and has been in charge of numerous photography-based projects with partners across the cultural field. Judit Gell\u00e9r (Hungary, 1983) publishes art critics and art reviews in various Hungarian journals since 2000. Between 2007 and 2017 she was a member of the Association of Hungarian Journalists; since 2017 she is a member of AICA Section Hungary. She has been awarded her Bachelor\u2019s and Masters\u2019 Degree of Design and Art Theory Expert at the Moholy-Nagy University of Art Design. Between 2012 and 2016 she was a member; between 2013 and 2015 she was a board member of the Studio of Young Photographers Hungary. She started her Ph.D. studies in 2013 in the Film, Media, and Contemporary Culture program at ELTE University; from 2014 she lectures about contemporary photography at the Photography Department of the Media Institute and she also held courses about Art Theory and Creative Writing at the PreMOME course between 2014\u20132021 both at Moholy-Nagy University of Art Design. Between 2015\u20132021 she was a curator at Robert Capa Contemporary Photography Center. She was the founder and editor of the J\u00f3zsef P\u00e9csi Photography Grant digital archive, and former member of the editorial board of the Review of Hungarian Photography. From 2022 she works as a contemporary curator at the MaDok-program of the Museum of Ethnography in Budapest. Felix Hoffmann (Germany, 1972) is an art historian and art theorist, and is currently head curator of the C\/O Berlin Foundation, where he is responsible for exhibitions, programs and strategy. With passion, curiosity, and a talent for improvisation he has brought C\/O Berlin from being an idealistic project to an internationally renowned institution characterized by his idea that photography and moving pictures will become the dominating medium of the existing visual strategies. He is the initiator of C\/O Berlin\u2019s Talents program for young photographers and art critics, and has acted as curator of numerous international exhibitions including Nan Goldin (2009), Robert Mapplethorpe, Peter Lindbergh (2011), Gordon Parks (2014) or Araki (2018), and group shows like The Last Image. Photography and Death (2019) or The Uncanny Familiar: Images of Terror (2011).
